923.Scorched (Bridge Across Sunlight)

Hey 19 – We can’t dance together
No, we can’t talk at all
Oops, I used Steely Dan’s words
Since I’d rather look at the birds
Twenty-Nineteen, huh?
Are we going back in time?
As we’re counting backwards in this rhyme?
Wow! To actually move the clock back
May save me from the next heart attack
And that could save my life
Or at least reduce the strife
But without effort, there’s nothing to do
Except add new ingredients to my stew
Which has scorched as it sat so long
On the back-burner – Bang-a-Gong!
What? Bang-a-Gong?! Yeah, don’t get it wrong
No, it’s ‘Don’t get me Wrong’ EEE-Gads! Yet another song!
Hey 19 – We can’t dance together
No we can’t talk at all
Since you’re music to my ears
As I sing through all the years!
I’m scorched! Sat on the back-burner too long!
Or was it ZZ-Tops ‘Afterburner’?
Can’t remember…so where’s my TV dinner?

About bognetta

Love has been so much more powerful than other people's control. I think it's all love, but sometimes it doesn't feel like love. That is because so many people are defensive, protective, and do not care to trust in that four letter!
