Start to Smile

Start to Smile

Start to Smile

There was no reduction in your consumption
There was no more time – I’m out on a line
There was no better dress – still look like a mess
There was no change in habit – still hunting the rabbit

Your presence rings absence and absence, peace
It’s too bad love’s not owned, but only a lease
There was food, but no nurturance
There was activity, but no reassurance

Sure you can bring home the bacon
But what kind of love are we makin’?
You tell me how your day was
Yet when I tell you mine, I’m the cause

There is comparison to things that are new
Because you’re always the same – never grew
Always attentive to your engines and machines
My rocket ship blasted – now I’m livin’ out my dreams

Don’t expect you to change like chameleon
Just want to explore like a ‘Ponce de Leon’
Conversations stimulate my concentrated brain
With yours, there’s no movement – it’s all down the drain

I love what we had, but I’ll miss it not
I’ll cherish what I can, and let the rest rot
Devotion and commitment put me in a bind
And now its come unraveled to free up my mind

What more can I say – I’d just make you blue
You want me as your own, but there I just stew
Our interests are different, my talents must count
We’re separate people – emotions can’t mount

So, I’ll go on my way and try not to hate
It’s hard, but with vision must follow my fate
Sometimes it is necessary to let it come undone
No matter the anger and how I’ll be shunned

Goodbye my sweet other half for a short while
Perhaps you’ll see it’s right and then start to smile

About bognetta

Love has been so much more powerful than other people's control. I think it's all love, but sometimes it doesn't feel like love. That is because so many people are defensive, protective, and do not care to trust in that four letter word...love!
