Wise ‘Ol Owl
Chickens, ducks, and swan and grouse
How could you become my spouse?
Flapping wings and squawking shout
Don’t you know it makes me pout?!
Fair-weather friend is what you were
That’s how this damned thing occurred
I did not know the barn collapsed
Another time warp has elapsed
And what is it that I do for now?
I just keep drifting on a cloud
I was so proud you were so true
But out of cuckoo’s nest, I flew
To who knows where or even how
Well all that I can say is, “Wow!”
A baby bird, you kicked me out
I guess you didn’t have a doubt
That I could fly and soar and sing
To think it almost was a fling!
But anyway, my bird of flight
I’ll hear you hoot throughout the night
