River of Rhymes
If not in love, then what am I up to?
Just writing my themes to keep me from blue
I cry and I moan and I plead and I beg
And when I’m done writing, I go shake a leg!
The rhymes can then lift you right out of your chair
And soon you’ll be dancin’ like Freddie A’staire
Some say my poems are just not concrete
But these people have some cement on their feet
I take you to mindsets that you’ve never seen
To show you how this life may not be so mean
In fact it’s enlightening to give forth a lot
If I keep it in, then my brain would be shot!
Hilarious laughter ‘cuz I think so deep
Just sowing my seeds for a harvest to reap
To share and to care and to give of myself
Is much smarter than putting my truth on a shelf
What does it say about me do you say?
I’d rather eat rolled oats than munch on the hay
To process emotions however so raw
Will keep me in practice of using my jaw
The stories are shorter than actual life
Much needed to tell so to rid me of strife
They move me along; I’m not kept in a currant
The dreams of the river will ride me clear through it
