Open and Shut Book
My life was beginning to be an open book to you
My God – How embarrassing when you tell me to shoo
Yet, I’m finding strength of my own, can’t you see?
What a privilege for you to have met me
A life of my own – What a gift!
Through mounds of dirt I did sift
Life constantly changes, and so have I
Some credit goes to your goodbye
New values I once hated to own
I came to them by love you have shown
Anger – Like a verbal spanking
Led me to your kindness thanking
Punishment to me is your will?
I say, ‘No, it did not kill’
My will is now stronger, and I’m not obsessed
To know my life is my book is best
